CONSTRUCTION OF A DUAL GAUGE LINE PARALLEL TO THE EXISTING METER GAUGE LINE IN DHAKA-NARAYANGANJ SECTION
The government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh has embarked upon a project for construction of a dual gauge line parallel to the existing meter gauge line in Dhaka- Narayanganj section with a view to operate more trains to cater the increased traffic smoothly and efficiently. The main objective of the project is to construct about 21.53 km DG new track (main line: 16.10 km and loop line 5.43 km) parallel to existing rail track from Dhaka to Narayanganj along with improvement of passenger amenities, signaling system and other allied works in the concerned stations.

Stage-I: Detail Design and Tendering Service Survey and investigation: - Detailed final location survey; - Geotechnical survey; - Hydrological survey; - Material investigation. Detailed engineering design & drawing: - Alignment and embankment; - Railway track and track substructure; - Bridges and culverts; - Railway station, siding, yards; - Universal design; - Signaling system. Preparation of signal interlocking plan and technical specification concepts: - Preparation of all working drawings; - Cost estimates and bill of quantities; - Preparation of tender documents; - Assistance in tendering services; - Evaluation of bid. Stage-II: Constructions Supervision Services - - Railways approvals; - Overall supervision; - GIBR application; - Inspection; - Project monitoring; - Signaling installation; - Work progress status. Stage-III: Defect Liability Period - - Inspection, checking and identification of defect; - Advice for remedial action; - Rectification of the defects.
