CONSULTANCY SERVICES FOR IMPROVEMENT OF DRAINAGE SYSTEM FOR REDUCING WATER LOGGING PROBLEM IN KHULNA CITY CORPORATION [Phase-1]
The main objective of this project is the total infrastructural development for the proper drainage of surface water as well as tidal water of river in the Khulna City Corporation (KCC) area. The specific objectives are: • To develop an eco-friendly and hygienic city through the improvement of drainage infrastructures in order to eradicate water-logging problems in the Khulna City Corporation (KCC) area. • To improve the livelihoods of inhabitants in the project area. • To reduce the cost of maintenance of the infrastructures and the damaged households caused by the water-logging problems. • To enhance the socio-economic and environmental conditions of the Khulna City Corporation (KCC). • To protect rivers and canals from the illegal possessions.

- Land survey and geotechnical investigation; - Preparation of cost estimate; - Updating of the existing drainage master plan and drainage model simulation; - Design of primary drains - 62.94 km; - Design of secondary drains - 129.42 km; - Design of embankment and bank protective works - 27.79 km; - Planning, drawing and designing of footpath; - Dredging / excavating and maintenance of rivers / canals; - Simulation of drainage network in the project area; - Preparation of maps and GIS-based database system; - Preparation of longitudinal and cross-section of drainage networks; - Operational and maintenance local training; - Design of sluice gates and outlet improvement - 8 nos.; - Design of pump house - 1 no.; - Design of bridges over Mayur river - 3 nos.; - Preparation of estimates, tender document, BOQ etc.; - Field supervision of construction works; and - Preparation and submission of reports.
