Duration: December, 1998-September, 2000 Narayanganj-narsingdi flood protection and irrigation project


The project area (24, 100 ha) was located at Narayanganj and Narsingdi districts, approximately at a distance of 20 km east of capital, Dhaka. The objectives of the project were to increase rice production, promote economic activities and enhance living standards of residents by providing appropriate facilities for flood protection, drainage and irrigation. The objectives of the present consultancy services were to formulate the definitive plan of the project to conduct additional studies and the environmental impact assessment, to perform detailed design and to prepare tender documents. A technical training also would be provided for the benefit of BWDB staff. During the services, the consultants should ensure the people’s participation for the project through conducting surveys on due consultation to the project residents. Recommendation regarding implementation of the project would be given finally.
